Megastar Amitabh Bachchan was among the top ten bollywood personalities to be felicitated with the first FICCI-IIFA(International Indian Film Academy) Awards for the'Most Powerful Entertainers of the decade'.The awards function which was held on night of 18th Feb,09 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of FICCI-FRAMES and IIFA ,it saw Bachchan and actresses - Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Preity Zintaand Shilpa Shetty - collecting their trophies while the other winners-Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Aishwarya Rai and Hrithik Roshan - did not make it.

The eve also witnessed the presentation of the FICCI-USIBC (US-India Business Council) Award to hollywood actor and leading social activist Danny Glover and to Congressman John Lewis. Speaking on the occasion, all humbled Bachchan recalled through the windows of past that he had completed 40 years in the showbiz on February 5. He seemed emotional to be blessed with such a prestigious felicitation as being the living legend of Bollywood. "I am happy at being a part of the film industry which is a symbol of national integration," he said. When Danny referred to Bachchan as the greatest actor in the world, an apparently embarrassed Big B thanked him for the compliment. As an actor Danny Glover, film credits range from the blockbuster'Lethal Weapon' franchise to smaller independent features, some of which Glover also produced.

Most recently, he completed filming the critically acclaimed feature 'Dreamgirls' directed by Bill Condon and'Poor Boy's Game' for director Clement Virgo and'Shooter' for director Antoine Fuqua and 'Be Kind, Rewind' for director Michel Gondry.

At the same time, Glover has also gained immense respect for his wide-reaching community activism and philanthropic efforts, with a particular emphasis on advocacy for economic justice, and access to health care and education programs in the United States and Africa. For these efforts, Glover received a 2006 DGA Honor. Internationally,Glover has served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Development Program from 1998-2004, focusing on issues of poverty, disease, and economic development in Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean, and currently serves as UNICEF Ambassador. John Lewis, often called "one of the most courageous persons the Civil Rights Movement ever produced," has dedicated his life to protecting human rights, securing civil liberties, and building what he calls "The Beloved Community" in America. His dedication to the supreme ethical standards and moral principles has won him the admiration of many of his contemprories on both sides of the aisle in the United States Congress.

Stardust Awards nominations 2009

The Star Screen Awards first began in 2003 under the sponsership of annual Stardust movie magazine. The awards celebrate new talent in the industry as well as congratulate the current stars. The nomination of a crap film like Yuvraaj definitely is disappointing and raises question on the authencity of the awards, Abbas Tyrewala deserved it more for romantic comedy JTYJN. They have spared A.R.Rehman too from Music Director's nominees list...sounds strange!!!

Idea Filmfare Awards 2009

The Filmfare Awards are the 'Indian Oscars' as they are considered to be the most prestigious and popular of all the various Indian Film Awards. They are given for Hindi films in India .The Filmfare awards were first introduced in 1954, the same year as the National Film Awards and was initially referred to as the 'Clare Awards' after the name of magazine's editor. Filmfare is a fortnightly publishing film magazine.

A dual voting system was developed in 1956. Under this system,in contrast to the National Film Awards, which are decided by a panel appointed by Indian Government, the Filmfare Awards are voted for by both the public and a committee of experts.

Idea Filmfare Awards Press Meet
The 54th Filmfare awards ceremony will take place in Mumbai on February 28, 2009. Tarun Rai, chief executive officer of the Worldwide Media Private Limited, announced the date in the presence of Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone on 6th Feb-09.

We will be witness to the various kinds of Bollywood awards in months to come viz. Filmfare Awards,Zee Cine Awards, Sansui Awards, Stardust award, IIFA Awards. Star Screen awards have already taken place in January.

We all are looking forward to Filmfare Awards 2009 most anxiously. Why not...they are the most prestigious and well attended of the lot(though it had a poor attendance last year in 2008).

Filmfare Awards are also generous of the lot, if they cannot fit an actor in their list, they make a special category for him/her with flashy names like 'special award' ' outstanding performer' etc. Last year, in 2008, we had Shahrukh Khan facing the heat from the child prodigy Darsheel Safary. This time in 2009 Bollywood awards, SRK's fantastic act in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi has intense competition from his favorite rivals: Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan.

Hold on to your cot in your living room, get the popcorn out, switch on your television sets and go through Filmfare Awards 2009. Though it is a tad early, here is a calculated prediction on the Filmsfare Award 2009 and many other awards that will precede or follow it. You are free to argue on our choice of Filmfare Awards and other Bollywood awards.

Speculations for 2009: Expected winners!!!

Best actress critics award: Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (Jodhaa Akbar) The sword fight was brave and poised.

Best supporting actress award: Kangana Ranaut (Fashion) Kangana's eccentric personality act is well practiced now.

Jodhaa-Akbar,A Wednesday surprises at Screen Awards!!!

Last year was painful, and terror attacks on Mumbai were a bitter reality. It however, couldn't choke the imagination and enthusiasm of Bollywood. Neither did the global downturn dampened spirits.

The Khan siblings, Sajid and Farah, hosted the evening along with Shreyas Talpade, sprinkling the announcement of the Awards with jokes on several talked-about releases of the year 2008, particularly Karzzz, Dostana and Fashion.

Between themselves, Jodha Akbar and A Wednesday notched 14 nominations each. The first, a historical epic that tenderly told the story of a romance that transcended the barriers of religion; the second an edgy thriller, economical, small-budgeted which framed the aam aadmi as terrorized and helpless. Rock On!! joined A Wednesday in a run on the awards, both films winning many a awards.

When the young man whose name was announced as winner of the best story award for A Wednesday took the stage, compere Farah Khan asked aloud, “Is that really Neeraj Pandey?” It was meant in all seriousness, something that could not be said of most of Farah and Sajid’s best lines from the glittering stage.

No one probably at the MMRDA Grounds knew what Neeraj Pandey looked like. Not even Farah, who is no ordinary comperer, and the only woman director to make it big commercially. The lean, bespectacled man, dressed deep blue and black, allowed his film to do all the speaking for him.

Akshay Kumar refused to accept the Best Actor in Popular Category (Male) Award for Singh is Kinng Akshay left the Award statuette on the podium. Aishwarya Rai , winner of the Best Actor in Popular Category (Female) Award, said she would accept, but only on behalf of the entire crew of Jodhaa Akbar.

On a sultry evening, populated by innumerable stars in the sky and on the ground at Mumbai’s sprawling MMRDA Grounds. Hrithik Roshan won Best Actor (Male) for Jodhaa Akbar.Befittingly, as the flames went up from the stage, as Priyanka Chopra danced to a medley from Fashion, there was fire too. She walked away with Best Actress Award for Fashion, afterall.

Jodhaa Akbar won Best Film, and its director Ashutosh Gowarikar shared Best Director with Neeraj Pandey for A Wednesday. A R Rahman won the Award for the Best Background Score (Jodhaa Akbar). Pandey also won Best Debut Director for A Wednesday, which won the Award for Best Story.

The Nokia 15th Annual Star Screen Awards toasted a year which opened up space for stories with a difference told by bold new storytellers carried on.

Thus, may be, these awards are associated with Executive Director and Governor of Academy of Motion Picture, Arts and Science.

The Grand Awards Ceremony was held on the eve of 14 January,2009, wednesday at Andheri Sports Complex, Mumbai. Many eminent Bollywood personalities graced the event with their presence. Farah Khan was fabulous in her avataar as host of the show alongwith trusted name like Sajid Khan, her owm brother.

The popularity and authencity of the awards is because they unlike other popular film awards are judged by people of the fraternity itself, members of the chosen jury are eminent Bollywood personalities.
