IIFA 2010 in South Korea


South Korea is organizing the International Indian Film Academy Awards 2010 (IIFA). There will be more than hundred of bollywood actors, actress, directors, producers present there.

The first IIFA Award was held in London in the year 2000 than in South Africa, Malaysia, Singapore, Netherlands,and in 2011 IIFA Award will held in June. The main motto of IIFA Awards are to recognise, give honour and celebrate the success of India Film Industry. It is the show which attract audience a worldwide.

It is to promote Indian film to all the world, and its founder-directors are Andre Timmins, Viraf Sarkari and Sabbas Joshep and in advisory board many bollywood super stars are there like -Amitabh Bachchan, Ramesh Sippy, Vinod Khanna,Jaya Bachchan and many more...........

Best Supporting Actor- Arjun Rampal


Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal has received 56th National Film Award as abest supporting actor for his performance in the movie Rock On!
He said to IANS that this is very emotional, wonder full felling moment for him and his family and entire Rock On team. He said everyone get emotional after receiving this prestigious award.

The movie revolves around five Good friend, who chucked their dreams of taking there band professional but just because of some misunderstanding there band break off, but after ten years , when they meet the dream come true of famous band.

Sonam nominated for Asian Film Awards


In the whole film industry Sonam Kapoor is the only actress who has been nominated for fourth Asian Film Awards.

She has been nominated for newcomer category for her role in Delhi-6, and she is competing with other two countries actresses China and Korea. The award ceremony will be on March 22, 2010.

She is a daughter of prominent bolywood actor Anil Kapoor, who has won Oscar Award for hids movie Slumdog Millionare, and his daughter proven in the Indian film industry after debuting Sawariya with the co-star Ranbir Kapoor. Then she worked with Jr. B in Delhi 6 and nominated for the Fourth Asian Film Awards.

Kanartaka's first Cinematographer received Dada Saheb Phalke



Famous Cinematographer VK Murthy was chosen for Dada Saheb Phalke Award on Thursday, he is the second Kannadiga who has chosen for the award. He has completed his cinematography from SJ Polytechnic College, Bangalore in the year 1943-46. Legendry Manna Dey was the first person from Karnartaka who has awarded from this prestigious award. VK Murthy is the first cinematography of Karnataka who has won this award.


From childhood he is interested to make his career in Indian film industry and he has given many precious moments to the industry which will be in memory forever. His first shoted Cinematography was Karaz Ke Phool and that was one of the best cinematographer for Guru Dutt's movie. He has stated his career as a violinist after that he got entered in Indian film industry and most of his movies received Filmfare Awards.

Ambika Soni hold meeting for NFA and IFFI


Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni,called for meetings with two different committees formed for the purpose to better the International Film Festival of India and revamp the National Film Awards to make it look "au courant".
Film maker Shyam Benegal and Censor Board Chairperson Sharmila Tagore were present at the meeting held for the National Film Awards.Opinions on how to to upgrade the awards were exchanged.The committee is expected to submit its report by 15th of March,2010 which will contain suggestions to make the NFA more in with times by making qualitative changes.

The second meeting was held with the experts for International Film Festival of India (IFFI) and its improvisation so that a bigger and a better market can be captured for Indian films. The report for the same will be submitted by the committee again on the 15th of March,2010.The commitee members who attended the meeting were Chairman of the Committee Kamal Hasan,Pritish Nandy,Prasoon Joshi and NFA chairman Shyam Benegal.Other film makers who were present at the meeting were Ashok Vishwanathan, Jahnu Baruah, Mohan Agashe, Nagesh Kuknoor, Rajiv Mehrotra, Shajin Karun, Vishal Bhardwaj and Sai Paranjapye.

Ambika Soni expressed the desire for a definite time schedule to be sketched out so that NFA can be carried out on a timely basis and it is ensured that a proper,democratic and transparent procedure is adopted avoiding any king of litigation.

Paa & 3 Idiots glitz at Star Screen Awards



16th Annual Star Screen Awards, sponsored by Nokia was held on January 9th 2010 at the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) grounds on Saturday. The star-studded mega event was a delight to watch for all movie-lovers. All bigwigs of Bollywood were present at the ceremony and it was a hard fight among the movies of 2009, as well as the actors. It was a close fight in various categories, but, Paa starring Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan and 3 Idiots starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi and Boman Irani -- won maximum awards.

The Bachchan family stole the show with their starry presence of Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya and Jaya Bachchan al present to support their home production. Amitabh Bachchan won the best actor award for PAA. The movie also won 4 other awards under the Best Actress category bagged by Vidya Balan, Best Child Actor for Pratik and Best Supporting Actress for Arundhati Nag (who played Amitabh's grandmother in the film).

3 Idiots, a spectacular film that broke all records at the ticketing window this year, won the best film award. The film was recorded as the big hit of 2009 and won over other contenders like ‘Love Aaj Kal’ and Vishal Bhardwaj’s ‘Kaminey’.3 idiots bagged several wards under various other categories.


There were some obvious and some not-so obvious winners in the Music segment of the awards. Kavita Seth, the voice behind "Ore manva"from wake up sid won the award for the best female singer. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan trounced the competition in the best male playback category for his track "Aaj Din" from Love Aaj Kal. A.R.Rahman won the best music Director award for his mind blowing music in Delhi 6.

“Dev D’, supposed to be a modern retake on Devdas, won some awards too. The most promising new comer award was bagged by Mahi Gill. Firaaq, a movie directed by ace actress turned director Nandita Das, fetched her most promising debutante director award. However, it was quite obvious to conclude after the ceremony that PAA and 3 idiots stole the show and won big time in 16th Annual Star Screen awards.

Chevrolet Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards


It was a grand event at the Chitrakoot grounds in Andheri in Mumbai and all the who's who of Bollywood were present there.The occasion was to give away The Chevrolet Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards for best performance on the big screen along with best performances on Television.

The Chevrolet Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards saw an array of Bollywood stars gathered at one place.

The highlight of the event was when Amitabh Bachchan was given the Lifetime achievement Award which was handed over to him by Akshay Kumar.

The film that bagged the most number of awards was Imtiaz Ali's Love Aaj Kal.The movie was honoured with five awards for best story(Imtiaz Ali),Best actor in a supporting role(Adajania and Dolly Ahluwalia),Best costume design(Anita Shroff),Best music(Pritam),Best male singer(Mohit Chauhan).

Shahrukh Khan was given the best actor award and the film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi recieved three awards in the categories of best choreography which was won by Shaimak Dawar,Best lyrics won by Jaideep Sahini and best female singer-Shreya Goshal

Ghajni was announced as the Best film whilst taking away the awards for best director,best screenplay (given to A.R Murugadoss ) and Best editing award given to Anthony.

The award for the best female actor went to Priyanka Chopra for her film Kaminey.Shahid Kapoor was given the award for the heart throb of the nation while the female heart throb was Deepika Padukone.

The big budget movie that bombed at the box office was given its share of limelight too when it received the awards for Best sound recording and Best special effects.

Televison awards were given away too at the event with the best fictional soap being Uttran.The best reality tv show award was given to Dus Ka Dum hosted by Salman Khan.The best actor and the actress on the small screen were Ayub Khan and Tina Dutta both from the serial Uttran.

Apsara Producers' Guild Awards to be held this year

Toronto to host IIFA Awards in 2011


In December 2009 it was announced that members of the Indian Film Fraternity and the IIFA Advisory Board, Canada will be hosting the 2011 International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA). The IIFA Weekend and IDEA IIFA Awards ceremony will be held in the Greater Toronto Area from 16th -19th June 2011.

Joined by key members of the Indian Film Industry, Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty also thanked IIFA for the honour of hosting the IIFA Weekend and Awards 2011 in Toronto. Toronto is an ideal choice for IIFA 2011 as it is considered as the global city which is very well known for it's culture and entertainment scene.

The announcement came at a green carpet celebration of cultural ties that bind nearly 600 thousand Ontarians to India. The IIFA Weekend will also cap a four-day celebration of Indian Cinema, including a Film Festival, various film briefings, a world-wide film premiere, a trade and business Forum, an IIFA Foundation event and escalate into the night of nights, the IDEA IIFA Awards.

The organizers have said that the decision for the 2010 edition will be announced soon. The first IIFA Awards were held at the Millennium Dome in London in 2000 and have gone on to various cities like Sun City, Dubai, Amsterdam, Singapore, Yorkshire amongst others, with the most recent being celebrated n Macau.

The IIFA Weekend is expected to witness over 500 people from the Indian film industry and about 40 thousand visitors to Toronto, with an international television audience of more than 350 million.
