Director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan receives Indira Gandhi Award

Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan , the talented director of the Bollywood industry received the award called the Indira Gandhi Award for the best Debut Film of a Director at the function of 57th National Film Awards. This award was given to him by the President of India, Mrs. Pratibha Patil. This award ceremony which was held on 22nd October, 2010 at New Delhi was quite magnificent and interesting.

Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan got this award for his debut movie Lahore which has already bagged many International Awards. During the receiving of the Indira Gandhi Award, Sanjay was honoured with a 'Swarna Kamal' along with a cash prize of Rs 1, 25,000. Producer Vivek Khatkar of Sai Om Films Pvt. Ltd also got the same honour. Farooq Shekh was awarded the Best Supporting Actor award for this film.

Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan commented that it was a very special time for him. He was deeply touched when he received a National honour for his movie LAHORE. He further added that Lahore has touched the national and international audience with its simple but impressive story.

NE film fest of India in the coming month

The coming up Indian Film Festival is the North East Film Festival which will be organized in the month of November, that is the coming month. The event will actually commence November 16. The festival will go on for three days. The renowned film makers from the North East region will be participating in this NE Fest along with some other big wigs.

Jahnu BaruaThe North East Film Festival of 2010 will have the theme of ‘The natives of a nation’. This interesting fest will also showcase documentary films and feature films from across the country. The festival would showcase movies of a total of 15 hours from the NE, that is, Northeastern region. The remaining 10 hours duration for the same will be taken from the rest of the country.

The North East Film Festival event is being arranged by NEFTPDA, that is, the North East Film and TV Producers’ Directors’ Association. Jahnu Barua is the president of this association. He is also a famous film-maker. Various eminent personalities from across the country will be present in this event to judge different type of interesting films.

Shyam Benegal to be honored at the Third Eye Asian Film Festival

The 3rd Eye Asian Film Festival is going to honour the renowned filmmaker of Indian cinema - Shyam Benegal. This grand festival will be organized from 29th October to 14th November in Mumbai. In this festival, 80 films and 50 short movies from the Asian countries will be showed.

Shyam BenegalThe director of this festival, Sudhir Nandgaonkar, stated that Benegal will be honored because of his experience in cinema. Sudhir also said that Shyam Benegal has been a great force in Bollywood and he will be given the Asian Film Culture award. Some of the famous movies of Shyam Benegal include Ankur, Junoon, Kalyug etc

Nandgaonkar also informed that the festival will be inaugurated by Son of Babylon, an Iraqi film. The Asian Film Culture award is given to the Asian directors for providing respect to their experience and to honor their achievements. This festival will also showcase 6 films by renowned Indian filmmaker Mrinal Sen.

The movie Parineeta is the screen portray of Bengali novel, Parineeta which was written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay in 1914. The movie was directed by Pradeep Sarkar. Awards’ List of Dev D

The movie Dev D was released in the year 2009. It belongs to the genre of Hindi romantic drama movies. Directed and written by Anurag Kashyap, the movie gained a lot of fame because of its modern style take on Devdas – a novel written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay.

Indian Film Festival of Houston Awards

The Indian Film Festival of Houston awards were organized at Royal Oaks Country Club. The club was full of celebrities in attractive and glittering dresses. Men were wearing smart Nehru jackets and the women were in beautiful sarees. This was the second yearly Indian Film Festival of Houston awards evening. The day marked the dazzling ending of the 4-day festival. The festival screened various popular feature films short films and documentaries produced by the Indian producers.

Udaan
The award of Best Feature Film was given to Udaan. It has been directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. The award of Best Documentary was bagged by Woman Rebel which has been directed by Kiran Deol. The award of Best Short Film went to You Can't Curry Love which was directed by Reid Waterer. Dilip Mehta for Cooking with Stella got the “Special Recognition” award.

Chairman of Bollywood's Reliance Big Entertainment, Amit Khanna who got 17 awards at India's 57th National Awards event in Mumbai, was the recipient of the first annual Leadership Award. Sutapa Ghosh, the founder of Indian Film Festival of Houston and also a filmmaker said that the festival has become quite popular and attracted many guests.
