VK Murthy honored with Dadasaheb Phalke Award
There were renowned filmmakers invited like Govind Nihalani, his short film has been screening, biography of Uma Rao it was an open event. 56th National Film Awards
Anirudh Roy Choudhary was presented the Swarna Kamal for directing Antaheen, the best feature film, while Neeraj Pandey and Ronnie Screwwala of UTV Motion Pictures were presented the Swarna Kamal as part of the Indira Gandhi Award for best first film, for A Wednesday (Hindi).
In the best actor category, Upendra Limaye walked away with the honours for his performance in Marathi film Jogva, and Priyanka Chopra took home the best female actor award for her role in Fashion.
The film also fetched Kangana Ranaut the award for best supporting woman actor. Arjun Rampal took home a Rajat Kamal for the best supporting actor in Rock On (Hindi).
Master Shams Patel was declared the best child artist for his role in Thanks Maa (Hindi). In the best singer’s category, the winners were Hariharan for Jogva and Shreya Ghoshal for Jogva and Antaheen.
The Nargis Dutt Award for best feature film on national integration was given to Assamese film Aai Kot Nai. Little Zizou was awarded the prize for best film on family values while Jogva was selected as the best film on social issues.
Abhaya Simha received the Swarna Kamal for his directorial debut Gubbachigalu (Kannada) in the best children's film category, while Jugal Hansraj was awarded the Swarna Kamal for his film Roadside Romeo in the best animation film category. The Special jury award went to Malayalam film Bioscope.
Bala, director of the Tamil film Naan Kadavul, won the best director award while the award for best cinematography went to Avik Mukhopadhyay for Antaheen.

The Global Icon of the Year award was presented to Oscar winning music director A.R. Rahman. He was thankful to FICCI for the award.
Amitabh Bachchan and Vidhya Balan have received best actor and actress award for their outstanding performance for the movie Paa.
In addition, movie 3 idiots have received best film and best director award. Vidu Vinod Chopra said that he was thankful FICCI, and thankful for the entire team member who voted for 3 Idiots.
Famous music director Pritam has received best director awards for Love Aaj Kal. Moreover, Ranbir Kapoor has won the best entertainment award.

Big B honored with Lifetime Achievement Award
Big names from around the world like Mohanlal, Resul Pookutty, Antonino Sucameli, Franko Nero and Masdah Azahbah will be attending the festival. Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi will be the president of the jury of the international section of films in competition.
Total 72 films from 20 countries will be screened at the film festival organized by the Ministry of heritage and Culture in the corporation with the Oman Film Society (OFS) and International Film fraternity of Oman (IFFO).

Oscar Awards
Oscar and academy is the two biggest awards in film industry, it has proven wrong that it Oscar are for Hollywood movies only.
Slumdog Millionaire, a film made about the Indian kids from a slum living in the worst circumstances hogged all the limelight.
It was an Indian movie, music, actors everything is done by Indian but the direction and production part is done by Hollywood director Danny Boyle.
There are other awards like Golden Globe and bafta, but this is the father of all other film awards and so it is awaited impatiently throughout the years.
