The International Indian Film Academy

The International Indian Film Academy also called as IIFA Awards, are bestowed every year by the International Indian Film Academy to encourage both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in Bollywood film fraternity. Organized in 2000, the IIFA Award function was held in different countries around the globe. This award ceremony has been organized by Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt Ltd which is one of India’s premier event management and entertainment agency.

The awards began in 2000 and the first event took place in the heart of London at The Millennium Dome. From then on the awards were organized at locals worldwide showcasing the international success of Bollywood. The next award ceremony will be taking place in Toronto, Canada, from June 23-25, 2011.These awards credit movies from the past calendar year. Actor Amitabh Bachchan has been the Brand Ambassador of the IIFA until 2010 where took retirement from the post due to much controversy that rose in Sri Lanka,

and appointed Salman Khan. In 2009, Star of the decade both male and female category, Movie of the decade, Music of the decade, and Director of the decade.Shahrukh Khan starrer Kal Ho Na Ho released in 2003 until that time apprehended the record for the most number of wins in an award function. Jodha Akbar, a 2008 film follows it with eleven awards. However, all of these records were lately broken by Rajkumar Hirani’s 2009 directed 3 Idiots which bagged sixteen awards.
