IIFA 2011 star studded affair

IIFA Awards 2011 are organized every year by the International Indian Film Academy to credit and award the performers and technicians of Bollywood industry. The entire idea of these awards started back in 2000 and since then the ceremony has been organized in numerous countries all across the globe like London, Sun City, Johannesburg, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, Amsterdam, Yorkshire, Bangkok, Macau and Colombo respectively.

IIFA 2011IIFA Award function is prearranged by Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt Ltd., which fits well into India's pioneer event management and entertainment organization. The first award ceremony was held in London at the Millennium Dome and the 2011 award ceremony was held in Toronto, Canada. Until 2010, Bollywood’s megastar Amitabh Bacchan has been the brand ambassador of IIFA from which he had to turn down the contact due to the controversy that had started up in Sri Lanka as he did not attend the function.Instead, actor Salman Khan took over the opportunity and hosted the show because of the absence of Amitabh Bachchan.

This year, Big B has openly declared that he will no longer be at IIFA because they do not require his presence any longer. In the year 2009, the IIFA awards introduced five new special awards – namely Movie of the decade, Music of the decade, Director of the decade and Star of the decade. IIFA awards are normally star-studded affair with lot of dance performances, a cultural programme showcased by the locals, talented performers who presented their art on stage and the beautiful babes and men of Bollywood are present in their best, designer outfits

3 Idiots Is Best Movie Of 2010

In 2009 the movie 3 Idiots was released in Bollywood. This movie was directed by Rajkumar Hirani with a screenplay by Abhijat Joshi and was produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The movie stars Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi Madhavan, Omi Vaidya, Kareena Kapoor, Boman Irani and Parikshit Sahni.

The movie became an instant hit in the Bollywood box office upon its release and broke the box office record in India. This was recorded as the highest grossing movie in India. The movie was also recorded as the movie with highest collections in the first week of showing in the history of the Bollywood film industry. Upon reaching the 10 days from its release, it already crossed the Rs 1 billion mark in India and thus it became the first film of the year to hit that record. The movie is also the highest grossing movie in the second half of the year.

The movie became the largest grossing Bollywood movie in India and the highest grossing film ever as it broke the record that was set out earlier by Ghajini. The movie was supposed to be released on Youtube but was impended due to some issues. The movie also won awards such as six film fare awards that include the best director and best film awards. Alongside, it also won 16 IIFA awards and 10 star screen awards.

Among other awards that were given are the best actor, best actress, best new comer, best villain, best film, best director, best comedian and many others in different award giving bodies. The movie is an adaptation of the book that was written by Chetan Bhagat entitled Five Point Someone. The story revolves on the idea of real inventions by ordinary people in India. Because of all the positive responses, the movie got the best film award this year.

The brains that were behind the innovations were Remya Jose, a student from Kerala, who was able to create the exercise-bicycle-cum-washing machine. Also, Mohammad Idris, the barber from Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh who invented a bicycle-powered horse clipper and Jahangir Painter, a painter from Maharashtra who invented a scooter-powered flour mill.

Change in the titles of Bollywood Movies

Over the Hindi cinema has gone a radical change in terms of taste, color, appeal and treatment. There is a great change in movie titles. From the titles Do Aankhen Barah Haath, Do Bigha Zameen and many more. Today’s movies have titles mile My Name is Khan, Karthik Calling Karthik, 3 Idiots, Wanted and lot more.

3 IdiotsNational award-winning film-maker Ujjvwal Chatterjee, who made the controversial movie Escape From Taliban starring Manisha Koirala, says, “English or Hinglish titles are given to enhance the appeal of the film.

Film-maker Sudhir Mishra has the final word. He says, “This trend has a lot to do with film-makers who think in English and, somewhere down the line, it has become their first language.
