The movie made a record of Rs 339 crore worldwide. The movie was to be released on YouTube, but due to some issue, it was not released. The movie also won many awards such as six film fare awards including the best director and best film award. The movie also won 16 IIFA awards and 10 star screen awards.

The movie is mainly based on the idea of real inventions by many small people in India. The movie was adapted from the novel five point someone which was written by Chetan Bhagat. The movie has got a good concept and thus it touches everyone’s heart. The movie got many awards. In star screen awards, the best film award was given to Rajkumar Hirani. Filmfare Awards Best Film Ever - Black

An Indian English directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali titled "Black" revolves around a blind, deaf and mute girl, and her relationship with her teacher who himself later suffers from Alzheimer's disease. The first half of the film is an adaptation of Helen Keller's autobiography The Story of My Life.

The film was screened at the Casablanca Film Festival and the International Film Festival of India. It won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi and eleven Filmfare Awards. Times Magazine (Europe) selected the film as one of the 10 Best Movies of the Year 2005 from across the globe. The movie was positioned at number five. Indiatimes Movies ranked the movie amongst the Top 25 Must See Bollywood Films.

Filmfare Winning Music Directors

Naushad Sahib was the first recipient of this award for his song Tu Ganga Ki Mauj from the film Baiju Bawra. For the first two years since the institution of Filmfare Awards in 1954, it was awarded to the composer for a particular song and not the entire album.

From 1956 onwards, awards in this category have been given for the entire soundtrack.

Music director duo of Shankar Jaikishan leads the winners list with nine Best Music Director Filmfare Awards, followed by A.R. Rahman who bagged eight. Laxmikant Pyarelal have the most nominations with 25, followed by Shankar Jaikishan with 20, and R.D. Burman with 17.

Laxmikant Pyarelal had the privelege of winning the prestigious award four times in a row between 1978 and 1981. Those who have won the award thrice in a row are Shankar Jaikishan (1971-1973), Nadeem Shravan (1991-1993) and A.R. Rahman (2007-2009).

Also, there have been three instances when a music director (or duo) were nominated thrice in the same year - Bappi Lahiri in 1985, Laxmikant Pyarelal in 1986 and A.R. Rahman in 2009.

The only women Music Director to be nominated in this zone and not yet a winner is legendary Usha Khanna. She was nominated for her music in the 1983 for her music in the film Souten.

IIFA is All Set For The Next Weekend

IIFA all set to celebrate its 10th year in 2009 where and when the biggest and the best from Bollywood will cross the borders to perform, give away and receive awards.

Macau, China is the venue for the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards to be held in the June 11-13 weekend. Despite coming late in the year after Filmfare and Stardust awards,
IIFA is looking forward to mainly because it is just the votes that matter here.

IIFA Technical Awards Are Done With!

IIFA's technical awards are over and done with and we will have to wait to see that if Hrithik Roshan will score another award for his performance in Jodhaa Akbar as Shah Rukh Khan has always been the king of the popularity stakes. While Abhishek Bachchan has been nominated in three categories, two for the same role in Dostana, his better half, Aishwarya Rai, probably has her fingers crossed for a win over Priyanka Chopra this time. But one guess is only as good as the other.

The process of selecting the winners is not as transparent in a ceremony like, say the Filmfare Awards, as it is in the case of IIFA. So IIFA has certainly taken over other conventional awards now.

IIFA Brand Ambassador

For brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan, the year should hold a special place in his heart as it is his 40th year in the industry as well. But he still has to defend IIFA's position when it comes to accusations that it showcases only Hindi films and does not go pan-Indian.
