There’s no place like the red carpet to make a style statement, with so many cameras focusing on you, colour or cut, and Bollywood’s denizens know how to avail this opportunity. Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif, who has stuck to long gowns on the red carpet, was wearing a gown time too; a bright red Marchesa. Another dramatic gown was Kalki Koechlin’s multi-hued Preeti S Kapoor which, with its long sleeves and high neck, was perfect for the chilly night. Another glittering star in the wardrobe department was debutante actress Amrita Puri. Amrita’s wardrobe in her debut film ‘Aisha’ may have been overshadowed by her co-stars Sonam Kapoor and Ira Dubey, but Amrita Puri proved that she was no wallflower with her metallic Vizyon gown.

Lara's wardrobe malfunction at IIFA

At the International Indian Film Awards (IIFA) 2010, this was organized in Colombo, Sri Lanka. But actress Lara Dutta, Bollywood most sexiest actress can never forget this IIFA Awards in her life. It was very embarrassing moment for her when her wardrobe malfunction is making sensational news.

'The Fun, Fearless, Female' awards

One of the most famous magazine known as Cosmopolitan celebrated the success of some of known celebrities in the country. The awards known as 'The Fun, Fearless, and Female’ were given to some of the renowned names on 20 November, 2009.

Actresses Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif and Kareena Kapoor were rewarded for their contribution towards Indian cinema. They have set an example for upcoming stars of Bollywood.

Priyanka and Katrina fight for Youth Icon Award

The bollywood leading and hot actresses Priyanka Choupra and Katrina Kaif are set to fight for the Youth Icon Award. Both Priyanka and Katrina have been nominated for the Videocon Youth Icon Award in the entertainment division. The actor-director Farhan Akhtar and oustanding actor Hrithik Roshan have also been nominated for the same.




Rahul bose, the founder of the NGO ( The organization which takes care of the affairs related to education and child abuse), has been nominated for his contribution to the social welfare. The awards will be bestowed to people for their exceptional contribution to the society and for various categories like sports, technology, media, politics, arts, private entreprenureship, entertainment and social welfare.

The nominations have been decided on the basis of various experts' judgements. The experts list include journalist Paranjoy Guha Thakurta, filmmaker Shyam Benegal, tennis ace Leander Paes, renowned cardiologist Naresh Trehan, actor and social activist Shabana Azmi, singer Usha Uthup and Venugopal Dhoot, chairman of Videocon Industries Limited. Award winners will be chosen through online voting and awards will be distributed on 25th september.

Zee Cine Awards-2008

Zee Cine Awards is one of the prestigious award ceremonies of Bollywood industry. It was started from 1998. The first Zee Cine Awards event was held in Mumbai in 1998.

After few years, Zee Cine Awards went international when it was held in Dubai in 2004. For the later years it was held in London (2005), Mauritius (2006) and Malaysia (2007).




The award ceremony has now completed its ten years. Over the years, it has become popular among its Indian fans as well as to the viewers of Zee Network worldwide.

Zee has its network across the world over 120 countries and around 2 million fans across 120 countries vote for their favorite star for Zee Cine Awards.

In 2008, the awards function was again arranged in London at Excel Arena, Docklands on 26 April, 2008. It was decorated by the glittering performances of Bollywood biggies like Shahrukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan. It was hosted by Sajid Khan and Karan Johar.

Shahrukh Khan was the winner for the Zee Cine Viewer's Choice Awards 2008 Best Actor for the film Chak De India. The Best Actress award was given to Kareena Kapoor for her outstanding performance in Jab We Met.

The Grand IIFA 2009 in Macau

In an attempt to take Bollywood in the booming Chinese market and the rest of eastern Asia, an annual road show to China's coastal casino enclave of Macau is being taken up. Bollywood's first family,the Bachchan clan, led by millenium star Amitabh Bachchan, his son Abhishek, and daughter-in-law, former Miss World Aishwarya Rai, will walk the red carpet as the International Indian Film Academy hosts its 10th annual weekend conference from Thursday to Saturday.

The world's most prolific film industry is hoping to translate its large output into bigger revenue by widening its viewership beyond native Indians.

Overseas income is already contributing more to the $2.3 billion Indian movie industry, with foreign box office revenues jumping from 5.3 percent of total revenue in 2005 to 9.8 percent in 2008, according to a report commissioned by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. With their large ethnic Indian populations, the U.S. and Britain are now Bollywood's two biggest foreign markets.

"The success and popularity of 'Slumdog Millionaire,' with its Indian locales, artists and music, underscores the growing influence of Indian cinema and augurs well for Bollywood movie markets targeting global audiences," the FICCI report said.

Amitabh Bachchan told a recent media briefing promoting the International Indian Film Academy weekend that the Indian film industry needs to do a better job of selling itself. Indian films typically devote 10 percent to 15 percent of their budget to marketing, compared to 30 percent in Hollywood, according to the FICCI report.

"Hollywood has greater marketing skills. We don't know how to market our product because we don't have the funds," the 66-year-old actor said, adding that, "we are trying."

The film academy has held previous overseas events in London, Dubai, Johannesburg, Amsterdam and Bangkok.

In addition to showcasing several new Indian films, this year's event in Macau will include a conference of business executives from India and China on Friday that will focus on collaboration between the two countries, with Indian Ambassador to China Nirupama Rao making the
pitch for her home country.

Famed Bollywood composer A.R. Rahman, an Oscar winner for his "Slumdog Millionaire" score, will hold a workshop on Friday. Heartthrob Hrithik Roshan and wife Suzanne will model for Indian designers at a fashion show Thursday night.

The three-day program culminates Saturday night, 13 June, with the annual IIFA Awards, where Abhishek Bachchan, his wife Aishwarya Rai, Roshan and fellow stars Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif will compete for top acting honors.

IIFA 2009 Who's there and Who's not?

For the IIFA 2009 awards in China that are still a month away are raging with controversies. Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar is outraged that although he has been nominated in the best-director category, his film, Fashion, didn’t make the best movie shortlist.

And alike SRK, Salman Khan has also reportedly backed out of the famous IIFA Awards 2009 in Macao.

Just like the last year, this time as well, the event is expected to be Bachchans bastion.

Loosing some of the star power last year itself, IIFA 2009 after the withdrawal of Salman Khan could give a huge setback to organizers of this event.

This is because Salman Khan was supposed to perform at the awards night and also promote his upcoming flick ‘Wanted Dead And Alive’, stepped out at the last minute.

Salman had missed this event last year as well supposedly because Katrina Kaif had performed with Akshay Kumar.

IIFA Awards 2009 Nominations

With the announcement of the official venue for the 10th IIFA Awards,2009, Amitabh Bachchan, the Brand Ambassador of the Awards, also declared the nominations for this year’s ceremony which are decided through a unique voting system. He praised the ‘transparent’ voting process exercised by IIFA and he reinforced the credibility of the awards.

The three day affair will commence on June 11th where Kareena Kapoor and current squeeze Saif Ali Khan, Karan Johar, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif will be the higlighting the event with their performance and presence.

54th Idea Filmfare Awards

It was a night to forget differences and bond together to celebrate and reward a year of hard work as the who’s who of the film industry – including Shahrukh Khan , who still has his arm in a sling – gathered together at Mumbai’s Yashraj Studios. Interestingly, SRK and Gauri Khan took seat next to the Bachchans . Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor sat with Rekha .

THE HOSTS:



Hosts Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan rocked the night with their wit, humour and chutzpah. Imran mimicked mamu Aamir Khan by going bare-chest in the Ghajini style and writing the awards on his chest. Ranbir spoofed SRK’s act from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi.

The two young hosts also argued about who among them would be the next superstar. Ranbir told Imran: “Bura mat manna, lekin log tera naam sun kar Aamir Khan ke baare mein sochte hain”. To which Imran replied: “aur tera naam soch kar Sonam Kapoor ke baare mein sochte hain”. Even as the two stars argued, Darsheel Safary ( Taare Zameen Par ) emerged on stage and proclaimed himself as the next superstar.

Segments of the show were also hosted by Karan Johar , Konkona Sen Sharma and Deepika Padukone .


PERFORMANCES:



The most sterling performance of the evening came from Farhan Akhtar , who sang rock numbers from his film Rock On . Katrina Kaif performed to a medley of her songs while Neil Nitin Mukesh took the stage with Bipasha Basu. Shahid Kapur impressed with his energetic dance performance; Abhishek Bachchan was cool-as-a-cucumber as he got jiggy with a bunch of babes on the tunes of “Maa Da Ladla”.

EMOTIONAL MOMENTS:

The most emotional moment of the night was when Arjun Rampal accepted the award for the Best Supporting actor for his performance in ‘Rock On’. Overwhelmed by emotion, the actor choked on his words and broke down.

Another charged up moment was when Shahrukh Khan took the stage and raved about the success of Slumdog Millionaire and particularly of A R Rahman and Resul Pookutty at the Oscars. Rahman was present at the function with a few kid stars of ‘Slumdog’.

The evening itself began on a patriotic note with the playing of the National Anthem.
