Music has laughed with us, even cried with us many times. Seen us in all our different moods. Now it’s time to give something back to music. Thank it for everything it’s done for us! It's that time of the year again to felicitate music maestros of our Indian music industry.

Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM presents its second edition of the show that holds a stunning reflection to the incredible achievements that our music industry has composed through the year 2009 – The Mirchi Music Awards!! This year, the Music Awards were organised on 10th February 2010 at the Bandra Kurla Complex. This year we witnessed a non film category as well. Over a period of time we see the Mirchi Music Awards including other genres of music as well.

While the awards felicitated musicians across various categories, for the popular awards there is of course the voice and opinion of Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM listeners who have backed the show with unrelenting zeal. Listeners will get a chance to vote for their favourite artists and songs of the year 2009, and can win a chance of attending the Awards Night Function.

Announced IIFA 2010 Nominations

After a successful year for Indian cinema, with astral performances at the box office, the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) announced the nominations for the IIFA Awards 2010. The 11th celebrations of the Videocon IIFA Weekend and Micromax IIFA Awards were held in the Sri Lankan capital of Colombo on June 3rd - 5th, 2010 respectively.

The Popular categories of the Micromax IIFA Awards 2010 included awards like Best Film, Best Direction, Performance in a Leading Role - Male and Female, Performance in a Supporting Role - Male and Female, Performance in a Comic Role, Performance in a Negative Role, Music Direction, Best Story, Best Lyrics and Best Playback Singer. The online voting for the Awards went live on the 10th of May, 2010 and were disclosed to audiences of Indian Cinema, across the world. 10th Indian Telly Awards

India's leading television celebrities and stalwarts shone bright at Indiantelevision. com's The 10th Indian Telly Awards 2010 where popular categories in television was honoured and recognised. Sasural Genda Phool’s 'Ragini Khanna' and Tere Liye’s 'Harshad Chopra' walked away with the best actress and best actor award as per the reports in the popular category.

Another highlight were the six 10th Anniversary special awards, which were given away to Bollywood diva Priyanka Chopra, Sajid Khan, Balaji Telefilms' Ekta Kapoor, Ronit Roy, Anurag Basu, and Saroj Khan. The Awards night was telecasted on Colors on Sunday, 19 December at 8 pm. Deven Bhojani of Baa Bahu Aur Baby and Avika Gor for Balika Vadhu got jury awards for male and female actors. Much hyped daily soap 'Uttaran' was awarded as the most popular serial, while Sapna Babul Ki Bidaii was the Most Popular Continuing TV programme.

The awards were hosted by Ronit Roy and Meghna Mallik with co-hosts Roshni Chopra, Sharad Kelkar, Tisca Chopra, Gautami Gadgill, Smita Bansal and Anup Soni, Aman Verma and Gautami Gadgil, Jay Soni and Pushtiie, Hiten Tejwani and Rakshanda Khan.

Apsara Awards to be held next year

The Film and Television Producers Guild of India recently announced the 6th Apsara Film and Television Producers Guild Awards to be held in the first week of January 2011. The Apsara awards will bring together the top talent from the world of films and TV onto a single platform, that will help in recognising their combined effort and significant impact on the entertainment industry for the year 2010.

Award list of 'Chak De India'

'Chak De India' was a block buster hit of the year 2007, it was a Hindi Sports Film wherein King Khan of the Bollywood town Shahrukh Khan played the lead role along with sensational Chak De Girls. 'Chak De India's story was about the Indian Women's National Hockey Team, the flick was directed by Shimit Amin and produced by Yash Raj Films.

It's screenplay was done by Jaideep Sahni. In this movie King Khan, SRK appeared as former captain of Indian Hockey Team, Kabir Khan. The movie explored the legacy of partition, religious bigotry and sexism in contemporary India with the perspective of our National Game hockey. Some media critics compared the character of Kabir Khan played by Shahrukh Khan to real-life hockey player Mir Ranjan Negi. But, the scriptwiter further clarified that he had no idea of of Negi's tribulations while writing the script, it's resemblance with Negi's life was a pure co incidence.

You would be amazed to know that, 'Chak De India' grossed Rs 639 million, it was the fourth highest grossing movie of 2007 in India. The block buster hit of the year 2007 received numerous Awards which includes National Film Award For Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment along with The Star Screen Awards and The Zee Cine Awards.

3 Idiots Is Best Movie Of 2010

In 2009 the movie 3 Idiots was released in Bollywood. This movie was directed by Rajkumar Hirani with a screenplay by Abhijat Joshi and was produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. The movie stars Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi Madhavan, Omi Vaidya, Kareena Kapoor, Boman Irani and Parikshit Sahni.

The movie became an instant hit in the Bollywood box office upon its release and broke the box office record in India. This was recorded as the highest grossing movie in India. The movie was also recorded as the movie with highest collections in the first week of showing in the history of the Bollywood film industry. Upon reaching the 10 days from its release, it already crossed the Rs 1 billion mark in India and thus it became the first film of the year to hit that record. The movie is also the highest grossing movie in the second half of the year.

The movie became the largest grossing Bollywood movie in India and the highest grossing film ever as it broke the record that was set out earlier by Ghajini. The movie was supposed to be released on Youtube but was impended due to some issues. The movie also won awards such as six film fare awards that include the best director and best film awards. Alongside, it also won 16 IIFA awards and 10 star screen awards.

Among other awards that were given are the best actor, best actress, best new comer, best villain, best film, best director, best comedian and many others in different award giving bodies. The movie is an adaptation of the book that was written by Chetan Bhagat entitled Five Point Someone. The story revolves on the idea of real inventions by ordinary people in India. Because of all the positive responses, the movie got the best film award this year.

The brains that were behind the innovations were Remya Jose, a student from Kerala, who was able to create the exercise-bicycle-cum-washing machine. Also, Mohammad Idris, the barber from Meerut district in Uttar Pradesh who invented a bicycle-powered horse clipper and Jahangir Painter, a painter from Maharashtra who invented a scooter-powered flour mill.

Blockbuster hit of the year 2000, 'Kaho Naa.. Pyaar Hai' was directed by Rakesh Roshan. His son Hrithik Roshan made a grand debut with this movie. 'Kaho Naa.. Pyaar Hai' starred handsome hunk Hrithik Roshan and Amisha Patel in the lead roles. Famous actor of the Indian Film Industry, Anupam Kher played the role of Amisha Patel's father in the movie.

President presents the national awards

The 57th National Film Awards were presented recently. The awards ceremony was held at New Delhi and the awards were presented by the President Pratibha Patil. Many Bollywood personalities as well as political personalities were seen at this ceremony. The president gave the award for the Best Actor to Amitabh Bachchan for his wonderful performance in the movie Paa.

This movie also stars Vidya Balan and Abhishek Bachchan, apart from Amitabh. Filmmaker D. Rama Naidu was given the Dadasaheb Phalke award. This award is given for the outstanding contribution in the development and growth of Indian cinema. The movie 3 Idiots was also given the award for the Best Entertaining Feature Film. The award for the Best Supporting Actress was given to Arundhati Nag for her performance in Paa.

National Film Awards ceremony Black(ed) out !

During the 57th National Awards ceremony which was held on the eve of 22nd of October, 2010 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi, there was something common, something which obviously drew the attention of many. Well it was “Black”..no! Not the movie “Black” but of course, the black colour.

During this ceremony, most of the people from the Indian film fraternity were seen wearing the black colour. Both Amitabh Bachchan and his son Abhishek Bachchan were seen in formal black suits. On the other hand, Amitabh Bachchan’s wife Jaya Bachchan was also seen in a black saree with white motifs. However, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the daughter-in-law of the Bachchans was wearing a south Indian silk sari.

The other Bollywood celebs in black attire included the popular filmmaker D. Ramanaidu, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Rajkumar Hirani, Swanand Kirkire, host Javed Jaffrey, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra etc. These national film awards were given by Smt. Pratibha Patil.

Manoj Kumar gets Lifetime achievement award

The 12th Mumbai film Festival was concluded recently. In these awards, Manoj Kumar has received the Lifetime Achievement Award. The international Lifetime Achievement Award was given to Oliver Stone. The movie Majority got the award of the Best Movie. The 12th Mumbai film Festival was a gala affair of eight interesting and glamorous days.

Director Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan receives Indira Gandhi Award

Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan , the talented director of the Bollywood industry received the award called the Indira Gandhi Award for the best Debut Film of a Director at the function of 57th National Film Awards. This award was given to him by the President of India, Mrs. Pratibha Patil. This award ceremony which was held on 22nd October, 2010 at New Delhi was quite magnificent and interesting.

Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan got this award for his debut movie Lahore which has already bagged many International Awards. During the receiving of the Indira Gandhi Award, Sanjay was honoured with a 'Swarna Kamal' along with a cash prize of Rs 1, 25,000. Producer Vivek Khatkar of Sai Om Films Pvt. Ltd also got the same honour. Farooq Shekh was awarded the Best Supporting Actor award for this film.

Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan commented that it was a very special time for him. He was deeply touched when he received a National honour for his movie LAHORE. He further added that Lahore has touched the national and international audience with its simple but impressive story.

NE film fest of India in the coming month

The coming up Indian Film Festival is the North East Film Festival which will be organized in the month of November, that is the coming month. The event will actually commence November 16. The festival will go on for three days. The renowned film makers from the North East region will be participating in this NE Fest along with some other big wigs.

Jahnu BaruaThe North East Film Festival of 2010 will have the theme of ‘The natives of a nation’. This interesting fest will also showcase documentary films and feature films from across the country. The festival would showcase movies of a total of 15 hours from the NE, that is, Northeastern region. The remaining 10 hours duration for the same will be taken from the rest of the country.

The North East Film Festival event is being arranged by NEFTPDA, that is, the North East Film and TV Producers’ Directors’ Association. Jahnu Barua is the president of this association. He is also a famous film-maker. Various eminent personalities from across the country will be present in this event to judge different type of interesting films.

Shyam Benegal to be honored at the Third Eye Asian Film Festival

The 3rd Eye Asian Film Festival is going to honour the renowned filmmaker of Indian cinema - Shyam Benegal. This grand festival will be organized from 29th October to 14th November in Mumbai. In this festival, 80 films and 50 short movies from the Asian countries will be showed.

Shyam BenegalThe director of this festival, Sudhir Nandgaonkar, stated that Benegal will be honored because of his experience in cinema. Sudhir also said that Shyam Benegal has been a great force in Bollywood and he will be given the Asian Film Culture award. Some of the famous movies of Shyam Benegal include Ankur, Junoon, Kalyug etc

Nandgaonkar also informed that the festival will be inaugurated by Son of Babylon, an Iraqi film. The Asian Film Culture award is given to the Asian directors for providing respect to their experience and to honor their achievements. This festival will also showcase 6 films by renowned Indian filmmaker Mrinal Sen.

Awards’ List of Dev D

The movie Dev D was released in the year 2009. It belongs to the genre of Hindi romantic drama movies. Directed and written by Anurag Kashyap, the movie gained a lot of fame because of its modern style take on Devdas – a novel written by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay.

Indian Film Festival of Houston Awards

The Indian Film Festival of Houston awards were organized at Royal Oaks Country Club. The club was full of celebrities in attractive and glittering dresses. Men were wearing smart Nehru jackets and the women were in beautiful sarees. This was the second yearly Indian Film Festival of Houston awards evening. The day marked the dazzling ending of the 4-day festival. The festival screened various popular feature films short films and documentaries produced by the Indian producers.

Udaan
The award of Best Feature Film was given to Udaan. It has been directed by Vikramaditya Motwane. The award of Best Documentary was bagged by Woman Rebel which has been directed by Kiran Deol. The award of Best Short Film went to You Can't Curry Love which was directed by Reid Waterer. Dilip Mehta for Cooking with Stella got the “Special Recognition” award.

Chairman of Bollywood's Reliance Big Entertainment, Amit Khanna who got 17 awards at India's 57th National Awards event in Mumbai, was the recipient of the first annual Leadership Award. Sutapa Ghosh, the founder of Indian Film Festival of Houston and also a filmmaker said that the festival has become quite popular and attracted many guests.

Philanthropy, Bollywood Honoured at IFFA

It was 26th September when many acclaimed directors of India and television stars gathered in Houston for the much awaited Annual Indian Film Festival at Houston. The excited guests at this grand ceremony held at the Royal Oaks Country Club were clad in best of Indian attire. They got the chance of being entertained by the interesting eclectic sounds of Moodafaruka.

Vikramaditya Motwane , the famous director won Best Feature for UDAAN. Also Dilip Mehta, another name in the list of famous directors, won the Special Recognition Award for Cooking with Stella. The Indian Film Festival Awards at Houstan awarded its first Philantrophy Award to Dr. Carolyn Farb. Also present at this ceremony was Iqbal Khan, the famous Indian TV star and the heartthrob of many Indian girls. He got the award called the Master of Ceremonies. The award night marked the end of the 5-day festival which was celebrating the Indian talent and culture.

At the Indian Film Festival Awards at Houstan, Iqbal Khan was present with his wife. This actor is famous for his role of "Angad Khanna" in the serial titled Kaisa Ye Pyar Hai. He also gained a lot of fame for playing the character of "Shaurya" in Kavyanjali and "Raghu" for Kahiin To Hoga. He also appeared in the Ekta Kapoor’s serial Karam Apnaa Apnaa. He has also appeared in the movie Fun2shh which also starred Paresh Rawal, Farida Jalal etc.

Peepli Live – India’s official entry for Academy Awards

Hope, this time we will get it! Yes, we are talking about the famous Academy Awards which are better known as the Oscar Awards. So which is the lucky Indian movie, this year, to get an entry into these renowned awards. Well…it’s the comedy sattire titled “Peepli Live”. Peepli Live has made it possible for Aamir Khan to score a hat trick for his movies as nominees in the Oscars Awards.

Aamir Khan’s Peepli Live has been selected as our country’s official entry for the Oscar Awards in the category of Best Foreign Language film. Two other earlier movie of Aamir which were selected for the similar categories in the similar awards in the past are Lagaan and Taare Zameen Par. L Suresh, chairperson of Film Federation of India commented that they selected Peepli Live for its strong and true portrayal of the Indian farmers and the vibrant striking and impressive depiction of the journalism and media in our country.

Manoj Kumar to receive lifetime achievement award

Manoj Kumar who is popularly known as “Bharat Kumar” in the Indian film industry and among the Indian audiences is called so because he has acted in a lot of patriotic movies. He has not only been an actor in these movies but he has also directed and produced some of them to show his immense feeling of patriotism to others.

Manoj Kumar has been there in the world of Hindi Cinema since last three decades. He has worked in various movies like Purab Aur Paschim, Kranti,Upkar etc. The actor has also participated actively in movies like Sanyasi , Kapda Aur Makaan, Dus Numbri etc. Before taking a retirement from movies, he did the movie titled as “Maidan-E-Jung”. The actor has earlier received Padma Shri and Phalke Ratna Award by the Dadasaheb Phalke Academy.

Amitabh Bachchan gets National Award for Paa

Bollywood legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan has recently finished his hat-trick by bagging his third Best Actor award at the 57th National Film Awards. The award for the best actress was given to Ananya Chaterjee for 'Aabo Hawa'. These National Awards were declared on September 15, 2010.

The movie Paa had Amitabh Bachchan in the exclusive role of a 12 years old child who suffered from a rare disorder – progeria. Progeria is the disease in which the person physically grows at a very fast speed and you may say that the patient becomes old at a tender age, though his mental level remains at a normal point. The movie starred Vidya Balan, Abhishek Bachchan and of course Amitabh Bachchan.

Ramanaidu gets Dada Saheb Phalke Award

The famous legendary and veteran film producer Dr. D. Ramanaidu from Andhra Pradesh has been conferred the Dada Saheb Phalke Award for the year 2009. This award is given by the Indian govern ent in the field of Indian Cinema for the outstanding contribution.

Under this award a Swarn Kamal, a cash prize of Rs.10 lakhs and a shawl is given to the awardee. Dr. Ramanaidu stepped into the film world in 1963. His first film was Anuraga. All woman jury for 12th Mumbai Film Festival

Jane Campion, the Oscar-winning filmmaker will be heading an all-women jury which will also include South Indian actress Suhasini Mani Ratnam at the 12th Mumbai Academy of Moving Images (MAMI) international film festival.The other panellists will include Tanya Seghatchian, Samira Makhmalbaf and Yoon Jeong-Hee.

Jane Campion is an Academy Award winne. She is a Hollywood-based filmmaker, screen writer and producer. This talented lady had also shot the movie "Holy Smoke" starring Kate Winslet in India. Srinivasan Narayan. the festival director said that Jane Campion may also conduct a master class.

Suhasini Maniratnam is a National Film Award-winning Indian actress. She is a director and producer also. She is wife of celebrated director, Maniratnam who has directed various movies like Roja, Bombay, Dil Se, Yuva etc. The couple runs the production company Madras Talkies. In fact Suhasini is the niece of Tamil film maker and superstar Kamal Hassan. She is also a trained costume designer, cinematographer, hair stylist, and the first female graduate of the Madras Film Institute. Suhasini made her film debut in 1980 with the Tamil film Nenjathai Killathe.

'Kuch Kuch hota hai ' is a Hindi Romantic comedy, the movie was released in India on October 16, 1998. The film was written and Directed by Karan Johar.
